COURSE INTRODUCTION

The Diploma in Packaging Technology and Design is a 3-year program offered at Kolej Kemahiran Tinggi MARA (KKTM) Lenggong, Perak. This diploma focuses on packaging materials and design, with a curriculum structure that emphasizes packaging technology supported by design elements. The program integrates science and technology, design, marketing, and business principles within its curriculum.

Generally, the fundamental goal of packaging is to protect products during distribution and delivery. However, in the modern era, packaging is a primary method for product marketing. With food safety concerns, packaging has become essential to protect consumers from food poisoning and other hygiene-related issues. Packaging is a vital component of today’s economy. Developing a packaging program is crucial because the growth of packaging companies depends on a steady supply of trained professional workers. The industry requires graduates with expertise in packaging engineering, design, marketing, warehousing, distribution, and an understanding of recycling and material reuse issues.

This diploma program will develop technical expertise and scientific knowledge to provide students with the skills necessary for careers in the food manufacturing industry and many related sectors.

SPM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

• Pass SPM or equivalent with at least three (3) Credits in the following subjects:
  1. Mathematics
  2. One (1) subject from the Science / Vocational & Technology / Vocational Subjects (MPV) / Vocational Stream Subjects (MPAV) groups
  3. One (1) other subject
  4. Pass in English

STPM GRADUATES

• Pass with at least Grade C (GP 2.0) in any one (1) subject

STAM GRADUATES

• Pass with a minimum rank of Maqbul

OTHER ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

• GRADUATES OF MARA SKILLS INSTITUTES (IKM) / PUBLIC OR PRIVATE SKILLS TRAINING INSTITUTES (ILKA/ILKS)
  1. Pass Certificate in Engineering / Engineering Technology / Profession / Technology in a related field with CGPA ≥ 2.50
  2. OR Pass with 2.0 ≤ CGPA < 2.50 and at least 6 months of work experience in a related field
• MALAYSIAN SKILLS CERTIFICATE (SKM) GRADUATES
  1. Pass SKM Level 3 in a recognized related field or equivalent
• MALAYSIAN VOCATIONAL CERTIFICATE (SVM) GRADUATES
  1. Academic Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) ≥ 3.33
  2. Credit in Bahasa Melayu (SVM Code 1104)
  3. Vocational CGPA ≥ 3.67
  4. Competent in all vocational modules
