COURSE INTRODUCTION

This programme offers theoretical and practical learning and training in the field of electricity and is conducted in collaboration between MARA and the Malaysian Energy Commission. Students who successfully complete it will be awarded a MARA Diploma in Engineering Technology and a Certificate of Competence as an Electrical Machinery Caretaker (Low Voltage System Without Power Station). The knowledge and training learned covers manual and computerized electrical engineering drawings (AutoCAD), practical electrical wiring and wiring work as well as single and three-phase electrical installations, operating principles and repairing electrical circuits, whether analytical or digital circuits, understanding the flow, transmission and distribution of electrical energy, the concept of transformers and commercial use of electric motors as well as understanding and being able to perform electrical work involving main switchboards, underground cables and overhead lines.

SPM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

• Pass SPM or equivalent with at least three (3) Credits in the following subjects:

  1. Mathematics
  2. One (1) subject from the Science / Vocational & Technology / Vocational Subjects (MPV) / Vocational Stream Subjects (MPAV) groups
  3. One (1) other subject
  4. Pass in English
  5. Must not be color blind

STPM GRADUATES

• Pass with at least Grade C (GP 2.0) in any one (1) subject
• Must not be color blind

STAM GRADUATES

• Pass with a minimum rank of Maqbul
• Must not be color blind

OTHER ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

• GRADUATES OF MARA SKILLS INSTITUTES (IKM) / PUBLIC OR PRIVATE SKILLS TRAINING INSTITUTES (ILKA/ILKS)

  1. Pass Certificate in Engineering / Engineering Technology / Profession / Technology in a related field with CGPA ≥ 2.50
  2. OR Pass with 2.0 ≤ CGPA < 2.50 and at least 6 months of work experience in a related field
  3. Must not be color blind

• MALAYSIAN SKILLS CERTIFICATE (SKM) GRADUATES

  1. Pass SKM Level 3 in a recognized related field or equivalent
  2. Must not be color blind

• MALAYSIAN VOCATIONAL CERTIFICATE (SVM) GRADUATES

  1. Academic Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) ≥ 3.33
  2. Credit in Bahasa Melayu (SVM Code 1104)
  3. Vocational CGPA ≥ 3.67
  4. Competent in all vocational modules
  5. Must not be color blind

• ACCREDITATION OF PRIOR EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING (APEL (A))

  1. Minimum qualification of completing Form 5 at a government-aided school
  2. Must not be color blind
