RM5 million allocated for graduate employability and AI career hub

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Human Resources has allocated RM5 million through the Social Security Organisation for initiatives to enhance graduate employability.

Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said the funding will also operate and upgrade the new MYFutureJobs Career Exploration Centre.

This AI-powered immersive hub uses gamified assessments to help job seekers match their skills with suitable opportunities.

Ramanan noted nearly two million workers nationwide are currently affected by talent mismatch.

“It is a fully integrated system where we create an ecosystem that functions as a one-stop centre,” he said at the centre’s launch.

He explained that AI will guide individuals towards the best career scope, whether in manufacturing, engineering or high-skilled training.

A memorandum of understanding was also signed with RHB Bank to expand the programme’s reach to 618,000 users.

Ramanan said the initiative aligns with a labour market where unemployment is at 2.9%, the lowest in 11 years.

Following this hub’s success, PERKESO may study establishing similar centres in Pulau Pinang and Johor.

PERKESO has targeted 200,000 job placements annually since 2020, with about 12,000 beneficiaries so far this year.

The organisation successfully recorded 208,000 job placements last year.

Its database currently holds 3.1 million job seekers.
